For children across Australia, this will be a Christmas like no other. COVID-19 may have changed the world, but the team at DOOLEYS are determined it won't stop Santa in his tracks.
This year will mark the 25th Anniversary of DOOLEYS continued support of the annual Sydney Special Children’s Christmas Party. The biggest event of its kind in Australia for special needs children and their families.
The goal of the event is very simple: to put smiles on the children’s faces.
From as young as six months to 15 years, almost five thousand young children are traditionally invited to the event at Rosehill Gardens Racecourse. Many suffer serious illnesses, physical or intellectual impairment, domestic violence or living in underprivileged circumstances.
It is a day they never forget, as they are treated to stage shows, celebrity visits, carnival rides, entertainment and of course a gift and visit from Santa. Last year alone over 30,000 Christmas presents were given out from Santa’s Toy Cave where each child is given 2-3 high-quality toys to call their own. DOOLEYS team members even volunteer at the event, giving the gift of time at this very special time of year.
As we know, this year has been like no other, and whilst the event will not go ahead in its traditional format, Dan Stevens and his incredible team behind this festive extravaganza, are refusing to give up, and have been taking on the mammoth task of re-organising, gathering, sorting and distributing toys right across the state.
DOOLEYS also refuses to allow COVID-19 to rob these special children of their happy Christmas and are so proud to continue with our support of this event in our 25th year.
