A message from our CEO:
As the year comes to a close and Christmas nears, we would like to take the opportunity to update members on what is happening at the club regarding the Lidcombe development and the exciting changes that are to come in early 2024.
Next year members will see a lot of activity at Lidcombe as we commence our much-awaited building works. With any development, there will be some disruption and we thank members for their patience and understanding as we get the build underway.
We expect the development to take approximately two years and include the closure and relocation of some areas during this period. A huge amount of work has been done with construction experts this year to meet budget demands and meticulously plan the construction sequencing. This has been done to ensure the project is delivered as quickly as possible, whilst minimising impact on our members and the local community.
Members will start to notice the development changes as early as the end of this year with the closure of the Bar and Grill Lidcombe restaurant on the ground floor. We are closing this destination at the end of the year with the last date of trade being New Year’s Eve. The space will be transformed into a members lounge to make way for future building works. We thank members who have embraced this offering and encourage all to continue to dine and enjoy it until the end of the year.
With the detailed design phase for the development now complete, we do have a competitive tender process underway which is near completion to secure an appointed builder in the new year. As members may recall, the increased costs throughout the building and construction industry during the pandemic contributed to an unusually long design phase, and delayed the commencement of the construction works. Despite many unforeseen delays, we are pleased to assure members we have made steady progress with the aim of commencing work in the first quarter of 2024.
In 2024 further details of the construction sequencing and the impact on member facilities will be confirmed, in addition to some sneak previews of the tremendous new facilities we are working towards which we are excited to share.
This ambitious project will deliver new restaurants, bars, and café within the club as well as a 500-person capacity grand ballroom and associated functions areas. Members will benefit not only from an increased range of food and beverage choices, but a club better equipped to deliver a wide range of member activities and entertainment.
Keep your eye on the club website during 2024 for key dates and information regarding the project, and even some sneak previews of what is in store for our members upon completion.
We do appreciate this project has been a long time in the making, and we thank members for their patience. Rest assured it will be worth the wait!
